Sometimes you just need to take a break from the normal routine, grab your girlfriends, and head to the beach. Living in South Florida, there are many options for a quick weekend away to the many beautiful beaches that we are privileged to live near. On the west coast of Florida, lies Sanibel Island. This place is a beach lovers dream with all the old Florida vibes one could want. Right on the water, is the adorable West Wind Inn, and the perfect hotel for a girls weekend!

From the moment we checked in, we were greeted with kindness and information on all the amenities. Included in your stay is a 2 hour paddle board rental, and bike rentals at your leisure. There are plenty of bike trails nearby along nature preserves and a green market not far from the hotel.  We took the paddle boards out in the morning and spotted many dolphins! It was a dream experience to paddle board in the ocean with dolphins literally playing in circles around you!

 

The perks of the West Wind Inn are a combination of the location, scenery, affordability, and comfort.

Location: West Wind Inn is located right on the beach and a short drive from some really cute bars, restaurants, and shops. The convenience of walking out of your room and being steps away from a big pool and a gorgeous white beach doesn’t get much better! We were a half mile away from a restaurant called The Sandbar.  With some yummy seafood and the best crab cakes, we were happy with our dinner spot choice!

Affordability and Comfort- The rooms at the West Wind Inn are clean and comfy, with the perfect set up for a girls weekend or a family vacation. The rooms have full kitchens with a big fridge, silverware and dinnerware, stove and oven, etc. If you want to save some money and go to the grocery store, you can make some snacks or meals in the room! We found the price to be totally worth the value. For a hotel right on the water, the price of the rooms were more than reasonable.

The food at the hotel was excellent and surprisingly affordable as well, especially for a hotel on the beach in a big vacation spot! They have two options at West Wind Inn: Normandie Cafe, and the Upper Deck. Normandie is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We really enjoyed eating breakfast at the restaurant every morning and we highly recommend the french toast or banana pancakes! The Upper Deck is the restaurant by the pool and don’t forget to ask for a fun frozen cocktail to enjoy!

At West Wind Inn, you can also rent some beach chairs and umbrellas to enjoy during your stay. When you reserve them, they are yours for the day. They also give you shell bags to help you add to your collection. Some other fun options for entertaining are corn hole and shuffle board right by the pool! Between that and the ocean, paddle boarding, and bike rentals, you are all set here!

The Sunsets

One of the best parts about the west side of Florida, is the incredible sunset that comes with it. We loved getting all dressed up and going out our doorstep to the beach to enjoy the incredible sunset and take some fun pictures! A special thanks to the West Wind Inn for letting people enjoy those perfect sunsets without herds of people around!
